    OMG what a beautiful family heirloom! I definitely think it deserves to be hand quilted - you could do a wonderful feathers or wreath pattern in the green strips and then maybe just echo qhilt the dark blocks to enhance the braid effect.

    Great advice from BW on repairing it - can't top that! :wink: :D

    That reminds me of what my grandmother used to call "postcard" quilts.
    I agree, some of those fabrics look like some of the ones in the quilt I have of my Grand and Great grandmothers, from the 40's. and that color of green was very popular in the late 40's early 50's.

    What a fantastic find....it really is crying out "quilt me"...fantastic colours...love that green...Wow.

    Thanks to Butterfly Wing for the repair tips. It would be great to do a course on repair and preservation.

    WJOW!!!What a fabulous gift to find your grandmas work!!!! I cant tell you how badly I wish some of my grannys work had survivied!! It is beautiful and I would hand quilt and use that very clever method about using tulle!!AND I would USE this quilt !!!! maybe not for covering but definitely for display!!! Enjoy!!
