Do you think the machine created hexagons look as good or would be easier then by hand?

Both are beautiful IMO. I am doing it by hand because it is my "take along project". Its small enough that I can carry a dozen or so hexes, a nail clipper, a bobbin of thread and needle in a ziplock bag in my pocketbook and work on it when I am in the car, at dr appts or waiting to pick up the DDs at one of their many functions. If I know I am going to be gone for the day, like when DD has appts at Shriners Hospital I take a small basket with more hexes. It just sits on my lap. I can sit and talk and sew at the same time.

Side note...I grew up in WV!

It's VERY cheery! and what a great idea to have busy work to take along with you. I keep telling my daughter that its always good to have a project to work on, but she's just not interested in being crafty!

I really love what you have done with this old 30's pattern. Your border added interest too. Great job.
