I would have it hand quilted.

Hand quilting. There actually are people who like to do that. I'm sure you know one who'd meet your standards.

You are the star of LAQers, but I think a work of art like this GMF needs to be handquilted.

Hi, are you kidding me, I've been drooling over your work since I came on board! You quilt that sister! That's what who ever pieced it would want. Especially if she knew how much you love it!!!! Jealous in Harrisburg

I definitely go with the hand quilting for this treasure that is hand pieced. And maybe to get it done more quickly; AND to keep in its tradition, you might possibly find a church or quilting who would set it up and quilt it together as quilts once were done. That would really add to its charm.

I would vote for hand quilting as well. I do hand quilting for other people and they mail the tops to me.

This makes me think of a GFG I did for a lady. Not only were the hexes about the size of a quarter (coin), she wanted each one hand quilted, and the binding - she wanted to preserve all the hexes on the edge, with no binding, so I hand stitched the top to the back (both even) around every single hex!! OMG - was I glad to be done with that one!
