    I think it being an old fashioned quilt done by hand should be hand quilted or even simply tied. Either way will look like the period.

    Well, I'm a hand quilter, so you know what I'm going to say! ;) Besides, it is such a traditional pattern, hand-quilting would look so nice on it. And it's hand-pieced... just begging to be hand-quilted! If you do decide to machine quilt it, though, I'd keep it simple...

    What a wonderful treasure! I would have it hand quilted to keep that special vintage look/quality to it. Not many of us have the good fortune to own such a special piece.

    As lovely as your quilting is, I think you should machine quilt it. Your quilting would enhance it. JMHO
