All good things take time and practice makes perfect. You know this already. Patience m'dear. This looks like a really good start. Before you worry about small - worry about even. Small will come. Use thin batting- I love Mt. Mist Quilt-Lite. And it is the most relaxing thing I do - but I've been doing it for over 30 years. So look forward to looking forward to quilting!

Greenini is right about evenness being most important. When you're ready to concentrate on stitch size, use smaller needles. They're difficult to handle at first, but a tiny needle makes it possible to get tiny stitches. Good luck! Don't get discouraged ...... I'm 82 and still and learning!

Just keep at it, the more you do the easier. There is nothing wrong with your quilting. The thickness of the fabric and batting makes a big difference as well. Thinner the batting, smaller the stitches. Anyone would love to have a hand quilted quilt, no matter what the size stitches, it is made with lots of LOVE.

We learned every lady has her own rhythm, as long as you keep yours right through the item you make it will be okay.

I remember a numbered tape, called Tiger Tape. It's a thin tape that (I thought) was used to help perfect the size of your stitches. Am I wrong? Have looked all over for it and it seems to have disappeared from the stores.

I know that I bought it years ago so that I would have it when I started quilting. Riiiiiiiight.............
