I agree they are two different skill sets. If I hand quilted only, I would have given up a long time ago. With the demands of family, a full time job, etc., there just isn't enough time to hand quilt everything and see results. That being said, I've been a quiltmaker for 10+ years and have just decided to give hand quilting a serious go - I absolutely love the hand quilted quilts, but I will continue to machine quilt also, in fact machine quilting will stay my main technique. There are things you can only achieve with each technique, each with great merits. I love it all.

...and more gorgeous!! I love to hand quilt, but admit that I feel like it is so slow and I want to see more accomplished in a short period of time. So I do machine quilting, too. The talent shown here is unbelievable!

I agree. I get upset when I see a hand quilted quilt judged against a machine quilted one. There is just no comparison. I still hand quilt. I have seen so many machine quilts that have so much quilting on them that the design of the quilt gets losts. All that work of applique or pieceing hidden by quilting.

    Keep up the beautiful work.

I'm afraid that hand quilting might become a lost art. Your quilts are so beautiful. My mom and my aunt both hand quilted. I did at first but my fingers are to stiff now.I always vote for the hand quilter when I go to the shows I know how much they put into their art. I saw a demastration of a quilting machine that you programed and it did all the quilting. It made me sad. Part of the art is doing your own designs. If I have offended anyone I am sorry. I love quilts so much. It's my passion.

Smile What has happened to Handwork?

All of your quilts are stunning and that first one is a masterpiece. Its amazing to me that you have done all that by hand. How long did it take you to do the quilt. Absolutely beautiful workmanship.

Your quilts truly are works of art, the quilting is by far the best of the best. I do hand quilting, but not like yours. Thanks so very much for sharing your skills with us. Mary
