I have a cal King quilt that I have to finish. Can't wait to try it out on it. Will definitely have to practice first though.

One word of advice to save you grief with this machine. I bought this machine five years ago and experienced all kinds of trouble with the bobbin case rattling, jumping and jamming. It turns out that there is a small hole under the bobbin case (has a little wick in it, it is not lint) that needs a drop of oil occassionaly (more often if you put a lot of hours on your machine). Nowhere in the manual did it tell me to oil this spot and my dealer didn't tell me in spite of numerous complaints from me about the loud bobbin that would jump out of the case and jam. This problem even caused my needle to puncture a hole in the bobbin case and then my dealer charged me $25 to replace it and called it operator error. I finally found out about this crucial oiling spot from another owner on the Janome 6500 Yahoo group. Other Janome machines may also need oiling here as well. I know my friend was having the same problem with the rattling jumping bobbin with her Janome Jem and the oil drop fixed her machine too. I guess over time that little bit of wick just dries out.

Congrats and Happy Birthday! Husbands that understand and support our hobbies are a rare bread indeed. My hubby bought me a new machine last week also. He just grins when he comes in and I'm sewing.
