Have a look at the dowelling frame my DH has made for my wall hanging!!

It's not difficult at all Leslee - the triangle corners are squares folded diagonally - stitched to each corner within the seam allowance for your binding, then add binding, and when you fold your binding over to the back you stitch down as normal enclosing everything.
Fix three sides of your doweling frame together first then insert into the top and finally slide the bottom one in - abit fiddly but they is some play on the triangle pockets so you can get your fingers in to locate the final joint. There is still abit of 'twist' in the frame which you have to accept unless you add a further piece of dowelling but I don't think when its hung against a flat wall its necessary.
Hope this explains enough to you :D :D [/quote]
Yes, thank you! I make a lot of wallhangings and love the look of them being nicely flat and square. I imagine that after a while the fabric would stretch and the frame wouldn't have that small twist either (?)
Tell hubby "Well done!" :D

Will do!!
What I was meaning about it twisting, is there is movement side to side simply due to the fact that there are no cross pieces to keep it rigid so if you hold both corners you can twist it - but dont as you will stress the joints and may break off the little tongue in the groove (LIke hubby did the first time....lol!!) :D

What I can say is that more than two years later since I made this for my Mum, it still hangs perfectly square, non of the dreaded waving which happens when wall hangings are suspended from the top only ;)
