That is sad. She must be a lonely person. I hope she finds someone before she passes on. I would love to be buried with one quilt, but "taking them all with you" is just not the way it is supposed to work, is it?!

I have heard of a quilter in Montana, I believe, who has her coffin already made and is using it at present for storage for some of her stash. I don't know any other details, but thought to myself that she was thinking ahead for her end time and using it (the coffin) for her present time!!

I love the idea of having a quilt draped over my coffin, but as I will probably be cremated, I'm thinking of making my own cremation urn out of stained glass and of course in a Angel quilted pattern.

Not a Casket lined with a quilt but when one of my quilting friends passed away her family draped her memory quilt over her coffin in the chapel. She was very proud of this quilt and it was the quilt she was starting when I first met her.
We only had 5 years of friendship but it was full of life & laughter as well as worry over grown children and all of life's ups and downs. I miss her.

anyway - kind of off subject, but to see this post after coming across those scraps... just had to respond.
Her daughters really loved her to know what Mom loved and used. I think it's the ultimate show of appreciation.

I was thinking the same thing. I have instructed my daughter to drape one of my quilts over the coffin but I don't want one to be buried with me. I surely won't need it where I'm going and I don't mean the hot place.

That's funny! It makes the ones "left behind" feel good - doesn't do a thing for the one inside after death, although it's
comforting to them prior to the event.

AND on top of that I'm having a closed coffin at my funeral. I think I would sit up and spit if someone came by and said "Oh, doesn't she look natural?" To think that I would look 'natural' lying there dead is just too much!!! And yes, I know I won't know anything about it - but still - just don't want to give anyone the opportunity to say it. lol
