Hawaiian Quilt

I'm done I'm done I'm done!!!
My son is getting married in Hawaii on May 22, and a year ago I was thinking about a wedding gift, and got this brilliant idea to make them a king-size traditional Hawaiian quilt. I need my head examined.
This is hand quilted ( that's the need for the head examination part) because I really wanted to keep it as traditional as possible. I have done NOTHING in my life for the last 12 months except work on this quilt, and when I finished it yesterday (with time to spare for the shower this Saturday) I got this feeling of loss. What will I worry about now? No problem. My couch needs the cushions covered, my daughter wants a dress made, and my other daughter in law will be getting a double wedding ring quilt - but NOT handquilted!

You are so brave to tackle an Hawaiian quilt. They are beautiful but I am afraid that I would be long gone before it was finished. Congratulations to you son and future DIL. What a wonderful gift.

You are all so kind! When you finish a quilt that you've worked on this hard, you want to run up and down the street shouting to everyone - I'm done! But it will be given to the happy couple next weekend, so I can't really do any shouting around here just yet.
Yes, Sunbonnet Sue, I do get to go to Hawaii for the wedding. Thank you so much the info regarding Hawaii quilting collections. I've never seen another Hawaiian quilt in person, so I'm really looking forward to being able to see them. I went to your Face book page, how neat to see my quilt there with your kind words! I'll be visiting your page often to see all the beautiful quilts you post there. Thank you!
