I like the idea of using a narrow orange border next to the star, and the car print next to the orange. I do not think the car print is too busy to use that close to the star.

I like the orange border, then the polka dot border. What about using the car fabric on the back and add 'roads' weaving in and out of it. That way young boy can drive his match box cars all over. What are your thoughts?

The red adds excitement and IMHO makes the quilt more of a child's quilt, whereas the orange just lies there and is more suitable for an older person
I love this idea! Red makes everything come together and pops the quilt

I love the red too, and would use the car fabric as the backing. He can use the back as a mat for when he plays with his toy cars.

I, too, would use the car fabric on the back. The quilt would be reversible and he 'grow' into it.

Different suggestion - Make the quilt smaller. A 3 year old might want to drag the quilt all around the house, but 90" long quilt will be too heavy and clumsy for him. I think a 50 - 60" square would be fine for him. I like the idea of a red border, then the blue dots, then a third border using the cars fabric. I would definitely use the cars on the back, too. The blue dots would make a great binding to set it all off, too.

No matter what you do, your dgs will love it!

i would border the star in the red or orange ...then a 4 inch border of the polka dot then just on the top and bottom put a piece of the cars then finish withthe rest of the dots to make it as big as needed ....love all the input you get from here

I think I would make him a car quilt that he can drag around with him and use the red to border the star and use the polka dots on the back. JMO.

[QUOTE=Neesie;6239777]I really like it, with the orange between the star and the blue print, with the cars as the final border. Your grandson is gonna LOVE that quilt!!![/QUOTE

Me too! I think it looks great just the way you have it laid out with that orange and dot.
