One block does not a quilt make. Often...I've made one or a few blocks and wasn't thrilled, however, when it was layed out complete, it was great.
These fabrics are beautiful and I like the block. Is there sashing??? This could make a different for you.

Don't know if you saw the video of the lady that gave away quilts to the needy. Many of them she thought was ugly but they ladies that got them loved them. So keep plugging away and remember it's for your sister. You don't have to love the quilt, just love your sister!
P.S. I had a quilt top I started several years ago and it had laid in my closet but I determined to get all my WIP finished before starting anything new for the year. I immensely disliked the quilt and still do but I finished it. I know someone will love it, even if I give to a charity and that's what counts.

You gotta go ahead and make it for her. It really only matters if the recipient loves it. And you might be surprised by it when it is completed.
I think you're being too critical.....it is a nice pattern and I can't wait to see the finished quilt.

I made a quilt for DD out of fabrics she picked. After making a few blocks I had her look at it and told her that if she didn't like it, we could try something else. She loved it, so I went ahead with it. The longer I worked on it knowing that she loved it, it started growing on me, and now I really like it. It's not something I would want to live with in my own home, but she really does love it. So it was worth the effort! Keep going! (BTW . . . I love the block you're showing!)

It pleased her so I would do it they way she likes....I have made many quilts I did not like the color combo or pattern but if it's someones elses then you have no choice. Everyone does not have the same likes. You will do fne.
