Ive promised to make a quilt for my sister. She picked the fabric. her hubby picked the pattern. i made the first block and couldn't stand it. so I sent her a pic. her reply was "I love it". What should I do? What do you think?? How can I make a King sized quilt of this when I HATE the combo?

I know it is hard to work on a quilt you don't like. If they don't have a deadline maybe work on a couple of blocks a day or something like that. If this is someone special to you just try to think of how she is going to love this even if you don't. Think of the good things you do together. It is a mind thing with me!!

If you are using Eleanor Burns version with her ruler this should go fast.

Well, I don't know what the entire quilt is supposed to look like but I have to agree with your sister........I too love it but I'm also addicted to batik. What is it that bothers you? The color combination?

Remind yourself who it's for, why you are doing it, and put a picture up of sister beside one of the blocks. It will make you smile to know that it's what she wants and that you are able to give it to her. ;)

I love it....maybe you can do as dakotamaid suggested and try another block style...maybe put the same color in the second round of points instead of mixing them..just a thought.

I think it will be spectacular. It may grow on you the more you work on it.

    I think it's pretty too.

Why not make another test block and just using the purple and the blue/purple swirly fabric. See how that looks. Maybe save the third fabric for a border.

I agree. We sometimes need to get further into a project before lovin' it. Plus, I find sometimes we need to take a step back from our work and see it through someone elses eyes.

I think it is gorgeous! I think when you get a few together and see what it will look like, you will change your mind. Just remember, this isn't for you. It is what your sister wants, and that is what is important. Last year I was asked to make some vests for a very large lady. She got the fabric and it was UGLY, but she was thrilled with them and that is all that matters. I threw all the leftover scraps in the trash so I didn't have to look at them again.

I think it is stunning, your sister will love it. Like someone suggested put a pic of your sister on the table while you are working on it and think of how much she will cherish it.
