    I'd hand applique them to white muslin or Kona cotton squares to protect them since they are hand stitched.

    I always piece that block the way she did...
    all the centers first.. then the solids. I do my bowtie blocks the same way.

    What a treasure to have something like that! Being a machine piecer, I can't imagine handpiecing 325 of anything!! And I love the Periwinkle quilt setting with the octagons.

    Wow, what a treasure to have received something so special as this! It'll be a wonderful thing to have when you have it completed as a quilt, a collaborative effort of the generations.
