Help me choose a background post...see what I came up with!!!

At first glance it may look like I didn't take anyone's suggestions, but I really did.
So far as color went, blue was the winner but there were lots of votes for the tan and lavender.
Reading all the posts made me think in different directions. I liked the idea of going with black, but I didn't have a big enough piece, but I did try several darker colors. The suggestions about using 2 or 3 fabrics and piecing the background solved the yardage problem. So many times I just buy 1/2 yard or even less because I do so many applique and scrap quilts.
The colors I finally chose were purple on top, a med green in the middle and a med wine color on the bottom. I am very happy with it.
In the large space I am going to applique flowers that will color coordinate with the bird fabric.
Thanks everyone for your inspiration!
