No neckties? :-) If she has some of those you could use, she wouldn't need buttons ...
Looks as though she is having a good time - making lemonade instead of sucking on lemons these days .... Good for all of you ... that's what friends are for....
Have a second easy-pattern in mind for her, for when you finish this one.... It seems like the shirts are using up only a fraction of a full-sized shirt ... and if "the quilt bug" bites her, she will have plenty enough to make a simple scrappy quilt to keep her involved in the art ..... without having to invest in a lot of new fabric right away .... Maybe you could give it a kick-start...
And she might be more inclined to wrap herself up in a scrappy quilt on a more regular basis rather than taking a chance on wearing out this one that may be a little more fragile and more special ....
just a thought.

We'll be adding buttons but no ties, he wasn't a tie kinda guy unless going to church. She's picked out a second pattern, D9P, now weather or not it gets done....We'll see. I personally see so many different quilts when I see his cloths but getting her to want to sew them up is another story. She's very busy with 2 disabled adult children at home and one 4 yr old grandchild living there as well.
