If you include the selvages I would suggest snipping every 6 inches or so. I was taught to do this when the repeat needed to be matched. As someone else said, the selvages won't shrink at the same rate as the rest of the fabric.

Get some fabric paint, dark brown, ligt brown, green and tan and paint in the grass and bushes. Or applique/draw a tree in that spot. got to find some way to hide it once it's matched.

    I'd make it match.
What about quilts and things made WITH just selvedges? I guess they shrink at the same rate as each other. I always likes the selvedge when sewing clothes, because if used right it could mean one less fold in hemming. Snipping is good advice.

IMHO...do your matching then trim the seam allowance down to 1/4" and snip as suggested to give it some wiggle room when finished.

    Looks wonderful so far!

I agree with this. Match first trim last. Beautiful quilt.

Who would teach someone to leave the selvage in their quilt?

I think I'd leave the selvedge on and have it match. Might be a little harder to quilt but should still be do-able. Very pretty quilt.

It's wonderful. The problem of the salvage edge is the shrinkage when washed. Years ago this was an even a bigger problem than it is now. Clip it every half inch on the very edge and you should be fine.
