Hi - a couple of months ago I posted some pictures of my 84 year old mom learning to quilt. Well, here she is quilting her first quilt on my little short arm frame. Isn't she just so cute? She is having so much fun doing this, and it gives an excuse to close ourselves up in my sewing room for a whole Saturday and talk and quilt and eat and quilt........

She is adorable. (imagine a smiley with little hearts dancing around it) :D

My mom died at age 61--so the mother/daughter stuff seems so very special to me. My mom-a horse lover- never got to see my minis. :(

I'm so glad you appreciate and treasure this time with your mom. Would you give her a kiss from me?

my mom also died too young at 69. she quilted and sewed. I have never sewn anything but wanted to quilt. when i quit work 3 yrs ago, the first thing I wanted to do (besides sleep in) was learn to quilt. Mom wasn't here anymore so I turned to my church lady friends and other resourses and learned. You are so lucky to have your mom and God bless you both. All I can say is ENJOY!

jljack......that's a wonderful picture. May you both have many happy quilting days ahead of you.
My Mom died in November of '96 at the age of 81......she hand embroidered and hand quilted a queen size quilt all summer long finishing it a month or so before she passed away. I don't know how she did it with arthritis and polymyalgia.......at night her hands hurt her so bad she wanted to cut them off. I'd tell her "Mom, you need those hands to finish that quilt".....then she'd start all over the next day determined to get the quilt finished. I'll post a pic as soon as I learn how to do it. As a child, I used to crawl into her big cardboard box of quilt pieces she kept in her closet, cover up with whatever quilt top she'd been working on and sleep.....she always knew where to look for me if I was missing for a while.
