LOL yes I am sewbiz! How many hexi's lets see 33 on the back, each of the 5 beads has 18 so 90 (123) then each of the columns in the front have 17 (x4) so 68 there (191) plus the one I didn't use 192 made w/ the focus fabric, then the pink fabric is all hexi, half hexi, 1/3 hexi or triangles no clue how many of those.

How did you come up with that 2 7/8ths width for the strips? Was that just how it fit the measurements of your pieces of fabric? Or is there some formula?
I usually go by something even and easier to cut, like 3" or 3.5", which I recently used on some fabric, but they are not giving me all that great of hexies.
In the quilt photo, each of your hexies look about 2" finished, or less.
I think I will try cutting my triangles smaller next time! You made a heck of a lot of little hexies for this quilt!!! Well done in the originality, too.

It just fit the fabric with the least amount of waste and the best use of the fabric.

Sometimes a little planning of where and the size to cut makes a big difference. I just finished making some octo stack and wack from a different fabric. The fabric was a border type print and w/ little planning for size and repeat meant I could get repeats of the octos and get specific star type shapes.

Kassaundra, your work always intrigues and wows me. Such a creative and mathematical mind you have! I do see the beaded curtains of the 70s--my aunt had them hanging in a doorway between her kitchen and tiny bedroom. I can still smell the cigarette smoke (and probably weed, but I was too young to recognize that). The way you've fussy cut and played around with colors and shapes is genius.
