Hill and Valley Log Cabin
Every year my MIL and I make 2 quilts together. This year's "challenge" quilt was a twist on an old standard. The patches are 8 inches square, with the bottom quadrant removed and a 4" log cabin in it's place. To further complicate matters, the bottom quadrant of the 4 inch patch is removed and a 2" log cabin is in there. I sewed 120 2.5" patches, each with 11 pieces in it. I actually enjoyed the process, and because the patches were so tiny, they came together quickly. We live in an area where hand-quilting rules, so this quilt follows that standard, according to my MIL's preferences. Thanks for looking!

I got the pattern from a book from Robert DeCarli called Hill and Valley Log Cabins. Each quilt he named according to its color scheme and layout. So the name of the quilt isn't a pattern as much as an actual name. Hill and Valley will get you farther.
