I go to national shows, but it's like going to a fine arts museum. I love looking, but I know that I'm never going to be able to make anything similar.
I love small quilt shows! I like seeing quilts that I can actually make, so I get inspired by them.
Speaking of which, that star quilt should be pretty easy to duplicate. Make 4 split quarter square triangle units, ( http://www.scrappyquilting.com/split....triangles.htm ) a finished size that is easily divisible by 2. Then cut 4 rectangles that will finish at half the size of the QST unit & sew to one side. Cut one square that will finish at a quarter the size of the QST and using a partial seam, make the block. Set them on point with sashing.
Example: make a triangle blocks that will finish at 4" (unfinished 4.5"). Cut the rectangles 2.5" X 4.5", and the square 2.5"X2.5"
