I pick out my prints first then solids.. I can't find a photo of the first zig-zag I did but here is a link to it on my blog: http://yolanda.typepad.com/my_weblog...pleted-quilts/

I used red prints with cherries and an aqua kona cotton as my neutral

Just printed out the pattern. Can't believe how simple the pattern is. Now to decide which fabrics to use. Thanks so much

Yolanda that one is adorable. The pattern reminds me of the crocheted one I did many years ago for my then baby, who is now 41. Thanks for the tip and the view :P

My son's father-in-law has a brain tumnor (we just found out a couple of weeks ago) and will be having it removed soon. I made this quick version of the quilt using 3" strips in rows of 14 blocks. It's about 48/56. I am going to quilt it myself because it's small enough and machine bind it. Then I am making one for a co-workers wife who is going through chemo. These little lap quilts are quick to piece and I think the end result is very striking. :-)

PS... they look so much nicer once quited.

Yolanda Thank You for sharing with us. That was so kind of you. I never would have guessed these quilts would be doable without seeing the tutorial. These would be fabulous quilts for all ages. Hmmmm I need to get to work! Thanks again.

So glad you posted this picture. I'd forgotten making one of these is on my "to do" list. It is very nice. Love the colors.
