Needing some input on what everyone thinks would be the best (best looking) method of appliquing these leaves....
satin stitch, blanket stitch, another decorative stitch or
would you do a raw edge applique?
I can't decide.
Not sure yet what will be going in the center block.
Have multiple ideas but haven't decided definitely which I like best.... :?:
Measures approx. 54x80

satin stitch always looks great but your leaves have all those lovely points you may have trouble with. it would be a lot of work. i really think though what ever you chose will be beautiful. great quilt!

I agree.... I thought the satin stitch would look too 'heavy' for the leaves plus hard to do around those point on leaves.
I can raw edge applique it with invisible thread....
but wasn't sure over time if the raw edges would fray it would look bad..?
I done raw edge but mostly on wall hanging that won't be laundered....this quilt will be on a bed.

If these leaves do happen to fray a little with the raw edge...it will actually add a little whimsy to the quilt...after all, leaves are pretty frayed around the edges naturally...so it will in fact look like you meant it to be that way...a little artsy.
That is a very beautiful quilt!

This quilt is simply lovely and I adore how you left a big blank square in the middle to show off some quilting. Your leaves are so realistic and delicate I too think a satin stitch would detract and I have never done raw edge applique but have seen it done. I think if over time the leaves' fabric begins to fray a bit it would add some lovely character to those leaves.
Are they fusibled down right now? If so I would think that would also deter fraying of any more then 1/16" of an inch if even that.
