Fabulous finds at the thrift shops. Such wonderful and "FUN" fabric you found. I'm very happy for you and for your wonderful sence of frugilty. ( not sure if that is even a word)

People sell things they no longer need and put up signs on street corners and advertise in local papers and on the internet and display them in their garage or yard. I have found an amazing amount of quilting related items for very little money. If you have those types of sales in the UK I recommend you try them. I admire you for your perseverance.
We have a similar thing called 'car boot sales', basically a local car park will let you park up, for a £10 fee, and you sell your unwanted 'stuff', I just wish that patchwork and quilting were popular here...but it's not, so NEVER find fabric at all boo hoo!! Clothing is generally cheaper than the charity shops, I always head for the people with bags of baby clothes, as I love all the pretty/bright kids fabrics. John is fit enough to drive at the moment so we have just bought a car, so I intend to make it a weekend pastime searching out all the boot sales in the vicinity!!

    :D

    You found very pretty fabrics.

    Were those all from garments?

I've learned that sometimes it's better to not say anything about cutting garments up!

Love your fabrics ... and all those pinks will make a gorgeous quilt!
Wishing a visit to your area was possible. And a tour of all the
    re-sale shops!

Yes, they were all clothing, men's shirts, skirts, baby dresses etc. Oh the burgundy is a brand new pair of pj's lots of fabric in them!

I think I will take one of my quilts along with me next time to show them just what you can achieve from discarded clothing....might get a few orders ;-)

I have plans for my next baby girl quilt, pink and lime green! It is for a dear friend of a friend who has just had her first granddaughter. She is heavily into re-cycling of everything, working in the community, so it is my aim to use nothing but second hand fabrics in a quilt for her as a surprise

    :D

p.s. Tell you what...I would swap with you just for one day in your local quilting shops....I wish

Izy when you get the clothes home do you wash them before you cut them up? Just wondering how your workflow goes from charity shop to fat quarter.
