Measure in 2" from the left side when sewing the strips. You don't waste as much fabric when you go to cut your 45 degree angle that way.

You're welcome, this is my 1st time making one, so I hope I explained it correctly.

If I didn't, please jump in and correct me somebody.

I'd like to try this too, using your tute. Could you please explain step #3 a bit more. I don't quite understand it. Thank you.

OH!! That makes sense! (of course after I've had a visual! )

    Thanks!!

Okay--once the star is done--then what do you do with it? Are there pieces added between those points? Or is it appliqued?

ranger, on step 3, I lined up my fabric 5 which is my beige floral print, five across. Then I removed (on the far left) the the colors from the beige floral print down.

Next to that row, I removed from the gold down and at the top of that row, I removed the dark green at the top.

The next row, I removed from the green leaf print down, and at the top of that row, from the brown up and continued until I had a diamond shape.

It will look funny like moonpi said, but after you sew the rows together, it will look right.

Pin the rows one at a time together to match your seams before you sew.

barnbum, after the star is finished you need to add triangles to make it a square.

I'm not going to applique the star, that would require more fabric than I really need, but I don't see why you couldn't applique it down.

Now, I can see what you did. Don't know why I couldn't see it before. Thanks for taking the time to answer.

You're welcome, I had to have moonpi help me too, because I didn't understand it either.
