The very first quilt I made that went together like this, it was a nightmare. I sewed, ripped, resewed, ripped. Pressed & pressed. You get the pix. Then a cpl. of yrs. later I learned I needed to put things together in pairs. Then put 2 pairs together. Now I had 2 sets of 4. Then I put the 2 sets of 4 together which gave me one flat pc. I was careful to ck the center before sewing though to be sure all matched together well.

Thank you for that wonderful tutorial! Adding the pictures certainly made the directions clearer - I think I might be brave and try this. Another project to add to my list :-)

Thank you for doing the tutorial. I too am a visual learner and seeing the pictures makes the project so much more doable.

OK let me see if I can explain myself w/o a pic. Camera battery MIA. I am joining my diamonds to form the star. I have two joined so far. You say, "Start @ the center." I sewed from one end to the next of the two diamonds right sides together. Please explain. I don't want to cause bulk in the center.

Also, my ends of each diamond are extending out by 1/4". Is this ok or should I trim off little nubs and "square up"?

    Appreciate any insight.
