I hand quilt and piece, I'm useless on my sewing machine, I tend to put my foot to the floor and just hope for the best. I bought a machine with a speed limiter, which has helped, but I still don't feel in control and my husband knows to avoid me if the machine is out as I'm going to be probably "evil" as he kindly put its. A needle and thread is much more relaxing thankfully lol.

Hand quilting is very comfortable to me. I just relax and take my time and watch my stitches go in lines. Applique is my favorite thing to do, there are those of us who just enjoy doing hand work.

I only hand quilt. I use my machine for the smaller things. When I was younger, my mother was always trying to get us 3 sisters to sew and quilt like she did. One sister never did any, and me and my other sister did some for awhile, but then didn't like it. After I retired, one day it was like it just fell over me, and I have been sewing ever since, and loving it. I do feel so relaxed when hand quilting and sewing in general. I love using the sewing machine my mother gave me, but it frustrates me too when everything starts messing up. Then I go and get my trusted needles out and just sit back with tv on and sew.

I love both I am just finishing Dear Jane both hand pieced and hand quilted and I have a long arm that is in use weekly with quilts both for customers and my own use. Hand quilting is addicting once you get the hang of it.

I love hand quilting, even very large quilts that that take months to finish. I do simple machine qulting on my DSM, but don't enjoy it. Just do it on charity quilts to get the job done.

I only hand quilt but know lots of machine quilters who laugh at me. I am lucky to sit at work before my classes begin and hand quilt. My students always stop to see how far I've gotten and are impressed that the old style is still going strong for some. LOL! One student brought his daughter to come see the work I've done, she immediately told her dad to buy me a machine so that I could produce my work quicker. Too Funny!

I only hand quilt. I tried machine quilting but didn't like it ( due to operator error, not because I dont like the look) so back to hand quilting I went.

What kind of MQ do you have? I would love to try one.
Do you know of anyone who does wholecloth quilting?
    Thanks, Judy
