I'm a new quilter, been at it for a month. I can try SID, or just make straight lines or diagonal lines. Otherwise, it needs someone else to do it.

How about just doing a grid pattern, the same width as your strips?
I don't usually do SITD because I just can't stay in the darn ditch, lol, so I would do a grid but diagonally if I was quilting it in straight lines.

You could do a diagonal pattern with a wavy stitch? Or a large meander over the entire top would be good too.

    I like the meander idea.

Wow, only been at it for a month? I am only about 6 months in and I am addicted. I also like the idea of diagonal lines.

This would be an easy way to quilt it. No need to follow the #@% ditch.

I have done a diagonal grid that is curved. You just wander in the general direction of the diagonal and it looks really good. Good luck.
