I started this quilt about 12 years ago  I was crazy enough to trace the pattern and cut it all out using scissors. I still feel the pain in my hands 13 years later :-( I hand sewed it as well. (what was I thinking) Well I finished it and have it in the frame, ready to quilt. I am going to hand quilt it.

Shoud I just quilt around all the bow ties or should I quilt it all over?

I think I would quilt 1/4" inside the bow ties

How much quilting can your hands take? It's a lovely quilt.

Here's 2 that I've done. One handquilted and the other machine quilted. When handquilting, I try to avoid quilted across seams.
    Hope this helps

One of the larger round designs like a clam shell would look nice with all the straight lines of the quilt.

How about some cute little motif in the white areas and 1/4" inside the bow ties? I think it's a lot of work to hand quilt only straight lines.

the ones I have made I stitched 1/4 in. inside each block as the one sewingladydi showed. I like the way it looks.

Lovely quilts. It's nice that you are finishing the 12 yr old. Remember to put a label on it.
