This is one of my favorite quilt patterns. I have it on my list to do next after I finish my panel quilt. I love your choice of colors and fabric, and I think you did a marvelous job on it. No idea how to quilt it, but I am going to (probably) do a Baptist fan on mine as I quilt by hand. Please post another picture once it is finished.

It's very pretty! Good job! As to long arm quilting? My experience with quilting my first quilt on a long arm was very fun, but my machine did not have a stitch regulator on it so some areas have some long stitches and other very short. Overall I was thrilled with my work at the time but now that I have done many more quilts my skills have improved greatly. So, you should decide whether this is a good practice quilt or one you want to hold onto until you've built up more skills. Now with that said I also didn't have a teacher so that might make a big difference.

Please help me with the quilting. Suggestions gladly appreciated because I'm stumped on how to quilt it! One of our nice LAQ'rs from the board may do the quilting for me but on Monday I'm taking the class to learn and I was told to bring the quilt with me. Do you honestly think this is too much for a beginner to work on?

With the batik fabric I would probably suggest doing a watery motion and I would also suggest using two different thread colors. I would do all of the blue pieces first with a blue thread and then go back and quilt all the white areas with a white/light thread. Do you know what color backing you are going to be using?
So many possibilities - thanks for sharing,
