I'd certainly take it for show and tell - it is wonderful eye-candy even before quilting .....
But for a practice, first-time FMQ?? no way! - It is way too gorgeous ...
But then, since I don't know YOU, I am talking from my OWN perspective ......
From the quality of your work on the top, you may be able to pull it off .... .... Only you can decide. - you have a few days to repeat to yourself:
I know I can;
I KNOW I can;
I know I CAN!
There may be some on here who will say "If you don't try, you may regret the not-trying" ..... and ..."You are going to have to pick one out to do eventually ... and your piecing skills are only going to get better and better in the meantime"....
Your choice ..

After taking more than one class on a mid arm set-up at our LQS my experience tells me that your Hunter's Star should not be your practice piece and you will NOT be ready no matter how much you want to do it. I now have a whole new appreciation for our L.A. quilter's and what they do. Learning to be a competent LA'er takes time and practice. You need to start on something patterned and forgiving because you will not see perfect quilting with uniform stitches and patterns in the beginning. A cheater quilt (pre-printed fabric to look like a top) is perfect. It can then be used as an everyday user friendly quilt. My first effort had uneven stitching, awkward loops and spacings. This wouldn't be the quilting I would want to see on your lovely Hunter's Star. Save it for later when your skills improve.
