One suggestion: Try to find a lightweight iron on stabilizer or interfacing and apply that to the back of some fabric and one or two of your existing blocks. See if that gives enough strength to go on with. In a book I just acquired, the author recommends Sulky Soft 'n Sheer stabilizer.
Good luck!

Cold, steely, controlled anger and persistence is the best way to communicate. Ask to speak to the store manager, and go back if necessary to find that person in. Sorry to preach, but I cringe for mere sales clerks who are the subject of someone's anger.

This is horrible I haven't bought fabric from J.O. in a couple years Here recently we bought a 20inx8ft piece of foam and ended up not needing it I took it back with the reciept the very next morning -they would not take it back they said it smelled like cigerettes -I never even took it out of the car - my car is 12 yrs old and there has never been a cig in her and I am out $83 I refuse to shop there I send their flyers back. Hancocks and Wally World get all my business now.---- on J.O.s

WOW.... YES if you have the receipt you can prove that you have only had this fabric a few months... and that it should not be this weak....
I hurt for you on all that beautiful work only to have the background fabric shred with little effort.

Wow I've got a couple of 3.5 yd cuts of xtra wide Kona Premium Muslin...I'm sure gonna check mine before that gets used. I planned them for backings..thanks for posting the warning. I'm so sorry for the bad luck..but I suppose it's better you find out now rather than later.

OMG that's awful! Such a waste of time, effort and money! I personally don't like buying fabric from Joann's, Hancock's or Wal-Mart. I find them to be very "flimsy" and I don't like the feel of them at all.
When I need to be budget minded I like to go to Connecting Threads...huge selection and great prices!
So sorry that happened to you! I think a wall hanging is a great idea for the blocks that you've already completed.
