I do appologise for the implications. This is a terminology which is used quite often in England when you've messed up. Sorry if it has upset anyone. It wasn't intentional.
    LOL

Yes twilliebee I did use the strip tube technique. The fabric was a cheap jelly roll I picked up on sale. I thought it would suffice for me to practice on.

I wouldn't worry about it Joan.
Btw, I think you did a fabulous job on that block. Native American's say "Nothing is to be made perfect, only Wanka Takan can do that."

Join the club. My best friend when quilting is my seam ripper. I just hope it doesn't wear out.

BTW---I don't think your block looks half bad and I like your use of colors!

I have a sister in law from England. She has a great accent, she sounds so proper that she can get away with saying almost anything. Sometimes a phrase can bring a conversation to a roaring stop.

I agree with everyone else, skill comes with practice, just enjoy the process. Love your choice of colors!

Made me look! LOL! Your block is quite impressive for a first block. That's why quilting is such fun. It doesn't have to be perfect and there's always something to learn or create.
