You've got to start somewhere. I think it's pretty good, and you're braver than I, to show a close up. From afar, my first quilt (my avatar) looks fantastic...if I started taking close ups of it, I might get the boot from the quilting world...LOL

My mom being British; I knew what was meant and had a chuckle. I haven't heard this expression in too many years. Don't fret over the block. It is how we learn. I've made some pretty awful blocks and relegate them to a bin that later gets ripped apart and used in other things. I do love the colors. :-P

I have a very good friend from London and she uses this term, also. I'm sure some of our expressions are hilarious to members of the UK. I remember bringing a box of Fanny May chocolates to some teacher friends in Carlisle and they just cracked up over the name. They were argueing about which one of them could have the empty box!
