I'm thinking about SITD for the center squares but that leaves about 5x7 of empty space. I don't know what to do about the empty space. Any suggestions? The batting is warm & white, I think it allows for a certain amount of empty space, but not sure how much. I am thinking about doing a flower chain on the sashings. I'm anxious to get started, but don't know what my first step should be.

I'm no expert, but what if you did squares (or are those rectangles?) inside your center blocks, maybe a quarter or half inch in? Don't know if you like the way that looks, but I've seen it done before and it can look nice.

Warm & White, Warm & Natural is 10" of spacing. Depending on the size of your blocks, you could get away with just doing the flower chain in the sashing. What would you do in the boarders? Maybe larger flower chain?

With Warm & White you can stitch as far as ten inches apart, so I think stitchin in the ditch or just a sashing motif would be the best thing. Personally, I wouldn't stitch in the squares, but that's just my opinion, everyone likes things different! Then you could do some kind of motif down the borders. Very nicely done!

if you just want to do something simple to hold the squares down, i'd do a diagonal stitch through all the squares. you don't have to go back the other direction to make an X in each. one day would give the quilt squares some movement but not actual movement! good luck
