    I have been quilting about 10 months (sewing for 58 years). FMQ has been the hardest thing to pick up. I am using stencils as training wheels to complete my quilts when SITD is not enough. I love the results and I am working on my FMQ techniques--I find no shame in using stencils.

    It's a very pretty quilt. I have trouble FMQ, although I continue to try, sometimes it looks good and other times, well not so much, but washing makes everything a lot better! I'm not too good with stencils either, but I use them occasionally, but mostly I use my walking foot.

    Beautiful quilt, stitching and all. I love FMQ, but when I want a perfectly balanced, equally balanced, whether feathers or any other design such as ivy, I use stencils. I really do like stencils as well.
