Renee, I suggest that you purchase at least 20 yards of muslin--a few more yards if you can? (Mistakes happen) Somewhere Brenda Papadakis suggests 20 yards.
I purchased a whole bolt of muslin at Hobby Lobby before I began mine. Usually the dye lots are very close but you know, if you are gonna spend the time & effort--then do it up right ---are my thoughts on my quilts.
Look carefully at the muslin. There are all different kinds out there from some that have such a loose weave you could toss a bucket through them? You want good muslin!
You DO want to wash the muslin!(I launder all my fabric because the dyes often bother me) Muslin does shrink.
I really love muslin myself because I am a hand quilter. It quilts beautifully! Muslin works like any other fabric? I know some folks do not like it but it is more accurate for the time period, IMHO!
Happy Birthday on Sat to you!!!

Oh dear wash it all? The fabric I bought are fat 1/8's hahahaha I know about the salad spinner. hehehe Okay I guess if that is what I have to do I have to do it. I don't want to spend a billion hours on a project to have it fall apart. That would make me  Thanks for all your help Reily.

I don't wash the muslin all in one length, Hon.
I usually cut it in 3 to 5 yard lengths. It is too hard for me to try to handle (at my age, they try to tell me I am old, you know. ha ha) It also is easier to iron if you will remove it just ever so slightly damp from the dryer.
If I am not going to use it for awhile, I do not iron it at all! I wait until the moment of use! (Just dry it all the way if you are going to fold it away, as you already know!)
You are most welcome!!!

Anytime! If I know the answer, I will even respond. ha ha
Just joshing you---I am glad to help with anything I know, which isn't much!
If I don't know, this board is loaded with wonderful stitchers & I see how quickly they respond to help. This is a fabulous group!
Hopefully, there will be a thread start when all of you get going. SO much easier to keep up with. Usually whatever you want to know is something someone else is asking too.
Happy to help if I can!
