I know that http://americanheroquilts.com/ WILL take quilt tops, have them quilted and give them to the wounded soldiers who go through the hospital at Ft. Lewis, WA. I quilt several for them every year.

Send some of the tips to Jan in Va. She needs about 20 more. She is sending them to Afganistan for the troops over there. Her SIL has about 130 men under him and he asked for it as a moral booster. It is desolate over there. PM her if you are interested. She will have them backed and quilted. Such a good cause.

I know that back when I liven in that area the Missouri Hotel (I think) had a program called New Beginning or something similar where they donated items to families that were starting over after losing everything. They helped them find jobs and a home and get going again. It was managed by the nuns from St. John's I believe.. I used to take them household items for it and they were always grateful. You could contact St. John's Chaplains and I'll bet they could give you better information.

Would love to have them for our small quilt guild (with no money even for postage) as we make quilts for people who lose their homes and possessions to fires. We also try to make some for the nursing home close by as well. Let me know if you have any to get rid of yet. Thanks so much

I'm sure the family is greatful that these quilt tops will be finished and used as they were intended. You were the right person for the job and the stash. Another suggestion is sometimes quilt guilds will finish quilt tops and donate them to homeless shelters. Now that we are in winter again, there is a real nead for them.
