I own some beautiful antique Haviland (set of 12 with serving pieces) that belonged originally to my great aunt Cora. Her husband brought her 3 sets from France. She left them to my grandmother who, in turn, left them to her 2 daughters. My mother was the youngest and got one of the sets which I now have. My two cousins sold their sets, but mine will go to my daughter and then to my granddaughter (who is already admiring it!). I love the idea of making a quilt to represent the china. Would make a wonderful wedding gift when my DGD marries. Not looking at that YET, but she will be 21 in December! Love your quilt! Do you have a picture of the china? Mine is in pink, yellow and greens. Here's one of the cups.

Oh that is certainly lovely. I think it's so sad when people sell family heirlooms. Glad to hear you are going to continue passing yours along. I have a binder with pictures of all the items I have that are family heirlooms and who they came from so hopefully my kids will know what they should keep and what they could sell.
