This is a project that i have been working on for my 23 year old nephew who is serving in Afganistan at this time.
He will be there about 14 months and i'm hoping to have it finished by then. I'm hand piecing this quilt & I have most of my blocks ready for sashing.
I need advise with picking out a color for the sashing and the back.

How about black for the sashing and a bold print for the back(maybe a geometric)? You could use cornerstones in the blue red and gold.

A dark chocolate brown would be manly and still go with the other colors.
My son-in-law is over there too!

I also thought black for the sashing. How about a military or R/W/B backing?

I just finished one and I used muslin for the sashing - then changed up the bear paw blocks and corners like you did - I liked the look. I think your bear paws are perfect. Good luck.

I think the dark brown would be nice. Also think a military backing of some type.

A dark grey black, maybe tone on tone. Very nice! Please post pictures when you are done.
