I agree the white is too strong, use the center color or muslin.
What if you used all the light background blofks in the center, surrounded by burgundy onthee eoutside, creating a border effect. Then use green & black for a border & bind in burgundy.

I like the brainstorm. IMHO the white makes the design pop. I am not sure the cream wouldn't make the design fade into the background but I think the burgundy alone is too dark.
But as I have also learned quilting is art and you are the artist...do what you like...it will be beautiful!
