    That is a tough one, but I think I like #3 with #1 a very close second.

    That would be my thinking. Of course, I love snowballs anyway. I am not especially fond of the diagonality of bowties, although switching directions every other row counteracts that. I have also seen attractive X patterns of bow ties, using 4 blocks to make a larger unit.

    The bottom line, however, is that YOU have to like the results.

    I like the bow tie look with each row going the opposite direction. If you are going to put flannel on the back or you could use fleece if you are not putting it in a show, this would be warm enough and not heavy to sleep under. If you feel you still need batting have you tried the Warm & Natural that is all I have used for the past few years. The coloring is beautiful and red sets it all off.

    1. The others are very angular and I think a cuddly quilt needs to be softly pieced.
