I don't see anything wrong with your room.
    Actually, mine looks worse!

Although I clean as I go, the rebel in me throws the scraps I won't reuse on the floor. Just feels good not to be so good.
The scraps big enough to use automatically go in the basket on the floor. The threads go in the wastebasket because I don't want them ingested by the cats or wound around a paw.
This time of year I save the threads cut up into no more than 5" for the birds to make their nests. I'm told they will use small fabric pieces so this year will try that too.
I also don't want the threads wound up around the vac beater bar.
WARNING: I would not throw scraps down on the floor unless carpeted. You could slip and fall.

What's wrong with it??? My garbage can is next to Tink's bed in my sewing room. I know it's been a productive day when she wakes up from one of her snoozes and shakes all the threads and snippets all over....heehhheehhee, guess I'll blame the dog!

I see what your problem is! Someone is trying to put a Dinning room in your sewing space!Otherwise known as ; not enough space....LOL, Mine tends to look like that also, except my mess stays on top of the work area , I just push it to the back, until I get up then I sweep it off into the trash, except for the stuff that I have ( purposely) stuck to the front of my clothing to take into another part of the house, or... sometimes to the store, resturant, where ever.....

Ok, I admit I am a messy. We moved in a new home, and my husband gave me the den as my sewing room. It is about 18x30 and has shelves on 3 walls (minus the large front window and the end window). The half bath is just right outside the room in the next door. The den has a door on it and I clean my mess up when I can't get out of it. My husband doesn't care how I keep it. His only threat was: he did not want to see one thread or scrap of fabric anywhere else in the house, or I would give up my room. When I am finished for the day, I am to close the door and walk away; so I do. I am NEVER giving up that room; it was my dream come true. I want to send pictures, soon.
