Fabulous job! I had to open the attachment in another link so I could see all the different images you used. I think you did a wonderful job finding fabrics that represent Australia. The only thing missing was a spider of some sort. You guys have the biggest and baddest spiders.

Love that you put the Tasmanian devil in down in Tasmania.

This is a nice quilt with a history lesson! My 6 year g’daughter geography and animal lover would love it! Soooo, I’m kinda a newbie to quilting and am still learning a whole lot from everyone on QB! Thank you all! My dumb question I should have asked a few years ago! What is an I spy quilt? Is it when a lot of blocks are make from different scenery/pics? Thanks!❤️

I spy quilts were inspired by the children's game "I spy". Often played with toddlers to teach them language skills colors, names of animals, fruits, etc. The phrase "I spy with my little eye ______" and you fill in the blank. It can be played anywhere. Driving along the road you can say I spy with my little eye something RED and the child can pick the red car that just passed or a red firetruck or a red stop sign. With the quilts we often use fabrics with pictures of animals, bugs, dinosaurs, fruits and veggies etc and then you can play the game with the child using the quilt. So often I spy quilts have patches of these kinds of fabrics and it is sort of a hide and seek game for the child to find what you spied with your eye. For example in the Australia quilt you can say I spy a Kangaroo. And it is a game for the child to find and point to the kangaroo in the quilt. Then the child can do it back to you.

Edited to add as children get older you can ask more involved questions, like "I spy with my little eye something that eats grass" or "I spy with my little eye something that lays eggs"
