After much indecision and redesigning I finally finished my son's I spy quilt for his 5th birthday (2 weeks ago). I would like to thank all of you who send me scraps for this project. He absolutely loves it. As you can see I used everything. The front has 4" blocks...and with the trimmings and pieces that were to small, I made the border. The back has some larger 8" squares, the wide lizard border- he picked out.
The biggest delay in finishing this was quilting it...which I did about 3 different times. First I free motioned it to highlight the designs... didn't like how it was turning out, ripped it out. Tried just a simple stipple......didn't like it, ripped it out. Tried stitch in the ditch didn't like it ripped it out. .....And finally decided just to go back to my roots and tie it, because it would take less away from the fabrics. I had to re-sandwich it a few times, because as I was pinning it he was crawling on it playing I spy.
Thanks again for everyone who donated scraps... He absolutely loves the variety and is still finding surprises on it.

Good job. I am making one for my 5 yo GS, It is the size for a double bed already and he is still picking out fabric for the blocks he wants in it.
