    I cut the fabric into 5" squares. The blocks are 4.5 then. If I were to do it again, I'd use my Easy Angle ruler. I just about KICKED myself for not!

    Thanks, everyone. It was a joy to make, except for knowing that the closer I got to finishing, the closer her moving day got. Bittersweet.

    Yes, I had fun making the back as well. I wasn't planning to have it be more than a few strips of each fabric between two sections of the dark blue mosaic print. But I made the quilt top bigger than originally planned, too, because I really wanted it to be plenty big when she's a teenager. Without enough of a single background fabric, I had to add, and improvise, which are really fun design challenges. And, truth be told, having a jazzed up quilt back is like two-for-one, right?
