I was thinking of just stitch in the ditch for this quilt--any ideas? I have not mastered maching quilting yet.

That is so cute! They look so real. What came to mind first is that the background looks like sand so I thought of the ripples in wind blown sand being quilted on it.

I'm sure anything will look great.

Could you stitch feet in each sandal?

Okay, here it goes - I am new at quilting, love the quilt by the way, what I would do, now remember I am new at this, is do in the ditch, but also stitch around each flip flop, just the outside edges.

Just what came into my mind at this early hour. :)

Very cute!! I think if you stitch in the ditch it would be quilted enough. You did a great job!!

I made this quilt, too, but in a wall hanging size. I stitched in the ditch and then echo quilted around each shoe because I have very little imagination and just wanted it finished (better finished than perfect). If you want to do a little more to it, but are intimidated by the wonderful suggestions by the really creative people here, just quilt the background area in a diagonal pattern.

Your flip flops are really cute! I also embellished mine with buttons-it was fun hunting for cute ones that coordinated with each pair of shoes.
