If you haven't tried the easy dresden tool, you have to!

I've never made a Dresden Plate but am getting inspired :-)
What is the technique? You cut each of the petals using the tool, and then sew them together? Then applique it to the square and applique a center circle on it?

All you do is use the tool as a 'ruler' to cut each petal, then fold in half length wise, stitch 1/4" from top, snip the inside corner, flip it to the right side, and voila', a petal! Then just sew petals together and you've got a plate.
The nice thing about this project is I can make it any color I want (I've been on a purple kick lately, but nothing in my house is purple!), and I figure I'd finish the block with a border, hand quilt, and use it as a treadle/table cover in my sewing room. SEW what if it doesn't match, huh? It will add some bright and cheery colors to my room. :) Again, it is really easy and way too much fun a person should have on a Friday night alone.
