I like the paisley. The solid blue emphasizes the sashing too much. I think the paisley makes the whole thing brighter. I vote paisley, with a dark blue or red binding.

Actually I have...but I think I would still need a dark blue border first to frame the quilt and then add the piano keys. I guess I haven't figured out 2 things...1) if I want to make the quilt larger cause adding the keys with the other border will certainly do that 2) if I want all the extra work! lol! Decisions...decisions!

Thanks for the encouragement. And I'm glad that it's noticeable that each square was made with the thought that it could stand on it's own. I did spend a lot of time trying to make each square "coordinate" with the fabrics in it and also with the quilt as a whole. And then place the blocks where it was scrappy but mixed up as much as it could be so that all the fabrics were scattered around and not grouped too closely together. I can't tell you how many times they were moved around on my design wall. There's nothing random about this randomness! lol!

Great quilt...I would border in paisley and bind in the red.

    GREAT JOB on the piecing!!
Thanks! The dark blue denim-like material was much more stretchy than I anticipated and proved quite a challenge. I'm pleased that I was able to get things lined up as well as I did. Then trying to keep the plaids and stripes straight...whew! There are a couple of dark blues that I've seen that "read" like the sashing. Only thing the one I really like is a subtle floral...being that this is so "manly" a quilt, would that work? The other that I could consider is a TINY blue/dark blue check. (And is one of the materials in the quilt already). I wouldn't usually think about using a check for the border...but since it's 2 shades of dk. blue and it's so very tiny...I think it would still be okay. Any thoughts?
Beautiful quilt ... or should I say 'handsome' quilt?

I'd consider the dark blue check, especially if you already own it! I don't think I like the paisley for such a tailored quilt.

I think a narrow light blue border then a wider border in the dark blue would look nice.
