I think that grumpy old men should have separate waiting rooms where they could be nasty to each other.

    The quilt is fantastic.

You have done an outstanding job. The man is part of the groups that believe only in the old way. I am new school and in 50 years, they may see us as old school. Times change.

Oh - poo on him. Sending you big hugs because your quilt is truly beautiful and so are you. My Dad would have been 102 today (2-28-11) and I'm giving him a "hug" today too.

Well to be young enugh to be still alive, I doubt his wife or sisters ever did it the way he described. I'm sure he is wearing clothes made with a sewing machine, not hand sewn from homespun fabric. Just an old man who didn't get it. Don't let it bother you.

Are you kidding me? Your quilt is beautiful. Never , never ever allow any one to belittle your work. When gramps' great mama made quilts she was in a covered wagon on the prairie trying to survive and he is still stuck there. I would have ignored his tirade since he was obviously having a bad day. Maybe his corns were hurting! (Hugs)

Glad that man doesn't live in my house. How unhappy he must be!!!!! If you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all.

I got to thinking after my last post. My grandmother was born in 1898. I am in possession of two quilts she made. One very well worn was made in 1939 for my parents wedding present. The other in like new shape (probably never used as bedding)was one she made for my dad's twin brother, probably in the same general time period. Both were machine pieced and quilted (straight stiched). I can tell by my uncles quilt that the fabric was new (could have been scraps from sewing but certainly wasn't from old wore clothing). Surely this old man wasn't the age my grandma would be if she were alive still (113). Old people get weird ideas, possibly he didn't even realize he was offensive. Here is a hug.
